Selection Procedure and Application Process

You need to include the following supporting documents with your online application as PDF documents in English or German:

  • University entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur certificate) for applicants in undergraduate degree programmes (Bachelor, Staatsexamen, Magister).
  • For Master's students, the certificate of the first university degree. In this case, it is not necessary to upload the university entrance qualification (Abiturzeugnis).
  • For applicants who are studying for a second degree, the transcript of the most recent university degree (Bachelor, Master, Staatsexamen). In this case, it is not necessary to upload the university entrance qualification Abitur certificate.
  • Curriculum vitae of all applicants

Proof of academic achievement:

  • from enrolled students a current performance overview (in any case, even if it does not yet contain any performances).
  • in courses of study in which an average grade cannot be calculated at any time during the course of study, proof of the average grade/final grade of the most recent examination performance (university entrance qualification, physicum/intermediate examination, final grade of the most recently acquired degree). The transcript of records must still be uploaded
  • Applicants at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy: for students already enrolled, proof of belonging to the top 10% of the year by means of a corresponding certificate from the examination office. In Pharmacy, a list of the year's best students is sent centrally (no confirmation from the Examinations Office is required here). Students of the Faculty of Chemistry have to submit such a confirmation.

For the selection, the grade point average is taken into account first, followed by the social criteria. A balance between the two selection factors is not possible, i.e. many proofs for social criteria cannot compensate for a low grade point average. It is not necessary to submit letters of motivation, as these are not taken into account for the selection.

Important! You must submit all supporting documents in English or German. Any document issued in other languages need to be provided as both original copy and officially certificated translation.
