Individual Applicants
"Individual" applicants are international applicants who are not participating in student exchanges or study abroad programs (e.g., university partnerships, Erasmus, etc.). There are two kinds of individual applicants: those who wish to complete a course of study in Freiburg, i.e. to earn a degree (degree seeking), and those who only wish to study for one or two semesters at the University of Freiburg and then return to their home university (short-term studies).

Studying without the Intention of Completing a Degree – Short-Term Studies
International student applicants who have begun a course of studies in their native country and wish to study in Freiburg for a limited period of time without the intention of completing a degree (magister, diplom, state examination, teacher training examination, doctorate, bachelor, master) may be admitted to studies for up to two semesters.
The prerequisite for admission is evidence of proficiency in German and several semesters of study in the same field at a university in your native country.
