Collection of Tuition Fees / Payment Deadline

Students enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or in a consecutive master degree program at the University of Freiburg received a demand for payment in December 2006 for the first semester in which student tuition was charged (summer semester 2007) .

Students enrolled in a non-consecutive master degree program in summer semester 2007 received a demand for payment in June 2007.

 

Beginning students and new students switching from other institutions receive a demand for payment along with their letter of acceptance.

 

The tuition fees must be paid by the end of the registration deadline (summer semester: 15 February; winter semester: 15 August) along with the student services fees (currently 65 €) and the administrative fees (40 €).

 

The demand for payment is valid for the student’s entire course of study (“standing order”).

 

After receiving the demand for payment, students may apply for an exemption from the tuition requirement or for a loan from the L-Bank at the tuition department, Rektoratsgebäude, Fahnenbergplatz, 1st floor. All documents necessary for an application for exemption must be submitted in original or in officially authenticated copies.

 

Please note that a submitted application for exemption will not be accepted as an excuse for not paying the tuition fees on time. If your application is

successful, you will of course receive a refund for the paid fees.

 

After you have received your letter of exemption or notification that you are exempt from the tuition requirement, present your bank account information to the appropriate clerk at the registration office.

 

All applicactions for exemption from the tuition requirement must be submitted to the tuition department before the beginning of the teaching period (§ 6 paragraph 4 of the State University Tuition Law (LHGebG) and § 6 paragraph 5 of the articles on charging student tuition in non-consecutive master degree programs and postgraduate degree programs at the University of Freiburg).
