Application Requirements

Application Requirements

Applications are open to highly qualified degree-seeking students of the University of Freiburg who wish to complete one or two semesters at a partner university abroad (please note: ERASMUS and institution's exchanges as well as doctoral students and so-called free movers who study at a university abroad outside of an exchange agreement are excluded from this funding).

The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM is linked to an exchange place, i.e. only those who will be studying abroad within the framework of a university partnership (allocation of these places via the International Office) or a departmental partnership (allocation via the respective faculty/department) can apply.

In the selection process, emphasis is placed on above-average academic performance in your field of study as well as extraordinary extracurricular commitment and very good language skills in the language of instruction.

The call for applications for students from international partner universities who wish to study at the University of Freiburg is made separately.

Application Deadlines

The current application deadlines can be found in the current call for applications for outgoing students on the start page. These deadlines are cut-off deadlines. Applications that have not been completed and sent by then cannot be considered.

Application Procedure and Documents

Step 1: Please inform yourself carefully here, read all the information, especially the FAQs on the documents to be submitted, and only then apply as described here!

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Obert (bw-stipendium@uni-freiburg.de).

Re-applications: If you have previously applied for a Baden-Württemberg scholarship, please contact Ms. Obert first and let her know that you would like to apply again. You should not simply reapply; your online profile must first be activated for the reapplication.

Step 2: Online application:

Please apply online as described in the call for applications for outgoing students. Please remember to SEND the online application as soon as it is complete. If you do not send it, it will not reach us and cannot be considered.

Here you can find the the application form

Please note:

Please enter the month in which lectures begin at the partner university as the start date (if there are introductory/welcome days, you are welcome to do so from this date) and the end month must be the month in which the examination period at the partner university ends. You can find the respective semester dates on the homepage of the respective university or by contacting the International Office there. If you arrive earlier or stay longer, this does not count towards the scholarship period.
