At our first International Stammtisch about 20 international students from all over the world and from different fields of study gathered together in a Freiburg restaurant. Divided into small groups, everyone rotated clockwise around the long table in order to keep making new acquaintances. The speed friending was supported by some prompts so that it was easy to quickly interact and communicate with others!

And where is a good café? What tips do others have and what else would we like to do around Freiburg and in the city? We discussed all of this intensively on Friday, passed on our own tips but also received many new suggestions and ideas.

    German language

For this international Stammtisch we decided to plan a little trivia night with different categories. We learned a lot about different dialects, tongue twisters and German sayings. We also tried pronouncing difficult German words, amongst other things the longest German word since 1996 in the Guinness Book of Records.

Our fourth International Stammtisch took place with nice weather and cool drinks. We talked about our previous travel experiences and adventurous activities like bungee jumping and roller coasters. We told each other where we would like to travel in the future and which countries are on our bucket list. It was a fun evening being out.

    Roßkopf hike

    Wanderung Rosskopf web

On the 6th of May we met up to go hiking together. Along our way to the forest restaurant St. Ottilien, we’ve been quite active – whether it being doing pull-ups, balancing on wooden trunks or simply hiking up the mountain. We definitely earned our break, eating yummy cakes or ice cream and enjoying a refreshing beverage.

    Freiburger Münstermarkt

Last Saturday we gathered together to stroll over Freiburg’s Münstermarkt around the famous Münster. It was a sunny and beautiful day to get to know the hustle and bustle of the market whilst enjoying the company of other students. At the end we got us some ice cream or iced coffee. The insider tip here is probably the combination of mango-straciatella.

Schlossberg hike and sunset on Kanonenplatz

group photo on the Schloßberg tower

We were able to use one of the sunnier evenings of this week for us and our little hike on the Schlossberg, Schlossbergturm and for the sunset on the Kanonenplatz. We decided to enjoy the view over Freiburg from the Schlossbergturm for some time. On our way back to Kanonenplatz we took a short and slightly hilly detour which was a little adventurous but planned of course. In the end we experienced a wonderful and very colorful sunset although there were many clouds.

  • Spielecafé

During our time at the Spielecafé on 14th June many of us tried games we haven't played before or played games that we haven't played in a couple of years. Divided up into smaller groups we chose many different games from the very big collection. It was a fun event!

Playing miniature golf was a first for almost everyone. Even though the courses were quite difficult sometimes, everybody had a lot of fun, trying to reach the hole in as little tries as possible. While some were trying to apply their studies to calculate the best shot, others were busy trying to follow the golden rule of miniature golf: Play gently and not with force.

    Spielecafé

    spielecafe-040822-web.jpg

Beginning of August we went to the Spielecafé for a second time. There were a few who were at the first Spielecafé Event but also many who've never been to one before.
In smaller groups we tried many different games, which were sometimes quite complicated but still lot of fun. Most of us even played games we've never played before. Nice staff members even recommended and explained games as well!
